While closely aligned in style with Barnet’s Bicentennial-period works, this image belongs to his late-1970s exploration of simplified figuration and poetic, everyday imagery. The composition depicts a young woman seated on a blue bicycle, gently extending her hand to feed a bird in flight. A basket of foliage rests behind her, and the entire scene is rendered with Barnet’s signature clarity—precise contours, flat areas of harmonious color, and a carefully balanced relationship between figure and space. Barnet’s mature style is fully evident: a restrained palette, graceful line work, and a quiet, contemplative mood that transforms an ordinary moment into something timeless and symbolic. The interaction between the figure and the bird introduces a sense of harmony between human presence and nature, a recurring theme in his work. Printed using traditional techniques of the pre-digital poster era, this piece reflects the craftsmanship and visual discipline associated with fine printmaking of the period, when artists worked closely with printers to achieve clean color separation and refined tonal balance.
