Over ten years in the making, Gifted is a 200-page hardcover book from photographer Jaimie Milner that includes 80 photographs and 40 full-length interviews showcasing the image and voice of black men today. Featuring remarkable men in the arts, business, politics, and finance, Gifted is a creative work focused on expanding a positive image of black men throughout culture. In 2010, Milner began photographing and interviewing black men out of curiosity, wanting to know their dreams and their fears. Over time that curiosity evolved into a desire to share what she had found. The project now serves as a platform for their multitude of truths. Through this project, Milner’s hope is not to change the views of others, but to ignite pride through positive imagery that reminds black men of the undeniable talent and influence they possess.
