It is a soluble dietary fibre that is derived from the root of the konjac plant. It is highly viscous, which means that upon consumption, it absorbs water and expands within our digestive tracts. In doing so, it reduces the absorption of carbohydrates and cholesterol from our foods. It also slows down the rate that at which the food leaves our body1. The expansion in the digestive tract creates the feeling of fullness, leading clients to consume less food. Research suggests Glucomannan also aids in weight loss2,3 and improves health by reducing cholesterol18 and blood glucose levels, and by ensuring more regular bowel movements.1,2,3Gymnema is an herb that has been used for over 2000 years in India’s Ayurvedic medicine to help manage blood glucose levels.
