Glulam beams are an evolution of a standard timber beam. Made by gluing layers of timber together (hence 'glued laminated timber'!) they offer increased spans and loading capabilities, resistance to warping and can be utilised for a wide range of uses, including lintels, beams, floor joists, roof beams and more. Although they can't quite match steel in terms of raw strength, they offer greater aesthetic appeal and can be left exposed to form a feature in any room. On top of this, they are far more environmentally friendly and substantially lighter, making them handleable on site without a crane in many cases. Please note, the glulam we stock is not visual grade. The images on this page display how it will look.
