GMPT-03 – Taira no Munemori The struggle between the Taira and Minamoto clans during Japan's Genpei War (1180–1185) produced some of the most celebrated warriors and stories in Japanese history. At the centre of the Taira cause during its final years stood Taira no Munemori, one of the leading figures of the once-powerful clan. Following the death of his elder brother Taira no Kiyomori, Munemori became an important leader of the Taira as their fortunes began to turn against them. The conflict culminated in the dramatic Battle of Dan-no-ura in 1185, a naval engagement that brought the Genpei War and Taira dominance to a devastating conclusion. GMPT-03 – Taira no Munemori from John Jenkins Designs brings this important historical figure into miniature, representing the aristocratic warrior culture of late 12th-century Japan.
