There is always something rather fascinating with sooty-black Goethite coating Cerussite after Anglesite, specimens so characteristic of the Broken Hill mining district of New Sout h Wales in Australia and, in the case of this specimen, from the classic MMM Mine. The pseudomorphs are sharp and crisp, with individual, double terminated crystals measuring to 2.5 x 1 x 0.8 cm, in other words, great chunky crystals! The Cerussite pseudomorphing after Anglesite is seen beneath the specimen to be colourless and glassy, coated by a 1 mm thick veneer of matt black Goethite.
