AKA, 'Wolfberry', a berry-producing plant in the Solanacea family that also contains tomatoes and peppers. One of the easiest/fastest growing fruits to grow organically. Self-polli nating. Young shoots and leaves can be harvested and used as a vegetable. The fruits are high in antioxidants, amino acids, & essential fatty acids and can be used as a garnish or source of sweetness in dishes, or eaten dried like craisins or raisins, though consumption may interact with certain prescription medications, so use caution. Blooms start in June, with fruit ripening by October. Used in traditional Chinese medicine into ancient history, and also used in Chinese alcoholic beverage called Gouqi Jiu.
