Golden beets are a beautiful heirloom variety that produce smooth, round to slightly flattened roots with bright golden-yellow skin and vibrant golden-orange flesh. They have a mild, sweet flavor with very little of the earthy taste common in red beets, and a tender, crisp texture when young. The greens are also edible and taste similar to chard. These beets are excellent roasted to bring out their natural sweetness, pickled, steamed, grated raw into salads and slaws, or added to soups. This variety is a good choice for Utah because it is cold-hardy, matures quickly for both spring and fall planting, tolerates our alkaline soils well with good drainage, and stores excellently—making it reliable and productive in our shorter cool seasons. 75 seeds per packet.
