"Observing hummingbirds in their natural environment can be difficult as rainforests are dense and quite dark—even in the middle of the day. “I scouted a section of forest, and fou nd this brilliantly-flowered sanchezia with beautiful blooms seemingly overflowing with nectar. I chose a vantage point that provided the best possible light, and I waited… “Thankfully, this stripe-tailed hummingbird eventually appeared for a quick sip that lasted less than two seconds. That is all the time I had to compose and make this capture. I’m so grateful that I was able to do so, as it remains one of my favorite moments from my time in Costa Rica.” Show more
