Goldenseal 1oz (Latin Name: Hydrastis canadensis)(Also known as: Yellow Root, Ground Raspberry, Indian Paint) Brief History & Origin Goldenseal is the Root of Sacred Protection, long honored by Indigenous peoples of North America, including the Cherokee, Iroquois, and Micmac nations. Traditionally, it was used for wound healing, infection, and digestive wellness, but also as a powerful spiritual purifier—painted onto the skin, used in ceremonial washes, and carried as a talisman against harmful energies. Its bright yellow root, rich in the bitter alkaloid berberine, is considered both plant medicine and spiritual armor. Goldenseal teaches us the balance between defense and restoration—how to clear the body and spirit of intruders while nourishing what is sacred within.
