Goldfinches are one of the most symbolic of European birds. From the Renaissance they have been used to represent salvation, freedom, and wealth. This image is taken from a waterco lour on paper painting by award-winning artist Daniel Mackie. The artists work is heavily influenced by the Japanese print makers of the Ukiyo-e period, between 1670 and 1870. Daniel creates highly decorative designs that lift the spirit and warm the heart.
