Goldtau is knitted in the round and bottom up in one piece. Garter stitch makes for a squishy and comforting cowl that is wider at the base. A lacy mesh layer folds outwards to con trast nicely against a dark or light background. Begin with the simplest cast on ever, the Winding Provisional Cast On that is stretchily bound off immediately. If you prefer you can use a conventional cast on of your choice just as long as has some give. The garter rounds are worked back and forth with the help of a German short row turn; this allows for the entire base layer to be plainly knitted, eschewing all and any purls.
