One of the true pinnacles of British psych music overall, Gong remain a curiously cultish concern, but to those tuned in they're masters in their field. By now you'd expect any and all material from this madcap collective to have been thoroughly mined three times over, but lo and behold a freshly excavated desk recording from 1974, when the band were surely at their creative peak. Gong were in the midst of their seminal Radio Gnome album run and gigging relentlessly, but this high-grade capture is all too rare from this era of the band, and it catches them in full flight with a classic line-up including Daevid Allen, Steve Hillage, Laurie Allan and Venux de Luxe. With the classics rendered on this near-90-minute opus, this would serve as a wonderful primer let alone a treasure for the die-hards. Gong fans new and old, assemble!
