Goomtee Tea Estate is a living legacy of Darjeeling’s tea heritage. Founded in 1899 by British planter Henry Montgomery Lennox, the estate has witnessed a remarkable journey through time. From the stewardship of G.W. O’Brien to its eventual guardianship under the esteemed Rana of Nepal after World War II, Goomtee has preserved its tradition of excellence across generations. Tucked within the scenic hills of Kurseong—endearingly called the “Land of White Orchids”—Goomtee stretches across 225 hectares of pristine land. Sitting at elevations between 3,000 to 5,500 feet, the estate enjoys cool mountain breezes and rich, fertile soil that provide ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality tea. At the heart of Goomtee’s craft are its vintage Chinary bushes. Carefully nurtured and hand-harvested, their leaves are transformed into teas that embody elegance, depth, and the unmistakable spirit of Darjeeling.
