Rather than depicting a specific view, Smith sought to capture the experience of being within a landscape. Pender Harbour (2006) reflects this approach. Through layered planes of colour, line, and light, Smith evokes the coastal geography of British Columbia’s shoreline, transforming a familiar location into a sensory and emotional encounter.
