An excellent unnamed selection from University of Florida's TREC Wampee is a tropical fruit native to southern China and Vietnam. It has a small, round shape and a thin, yellow or orange skin when ripe. The flesh of the fruit is white or pale yellow and has a juicy, slightly sweet and sour flavor. It surrounds a single, small seed in the center. Wampee is often eaten fresh or used to make desserts, such as ice cream and smoothies.
