Granny squares are a cornerstone of crochet, first recorded in the 1890s, and synonymous with the 1970s. These classic squares are most commonly found in blankets but can be used f or bags, pillows and even clothing. A change in size, shape and colour combination can give give a modern look to an under appreciated technique. In this one day class we will cover the basics of crochet and master the granny square. We will work on chain stitch, double crochet stitch, slip stitch and joining the squares together. This class is suitable for absolute beginners as well as those with some experience. This class requires 2-4 x 50g of DK weight wool in your choice of colours and a 4mm crochet hook. These supplies can be purchased from the mini mobile yarn shop on the day. If you order with your class booking please select Click and Collect and I will reserve your materials and bring them along to the class. I will also have a selection of appropriate yarns available on the day. For my samples I've used Bo Peep DK from West Yorkshire Spinners. Classes are held at Thirst Drinks Syndicate, Arch 23, Viaduct Road, Chelmsford CM1 61TS. It is in the railway arches under the Chelmsford train station, across from the bus stops.The space is accessible with step free entrance and an accessible toilet next to the teaching space.
