The grebe is a graceful underwater hunter that many Europeans will regularly spot on the water. The young of the grebe have beautiful black and white striped plumage. They love to get a lift on their parents’ backs and hide between Mom and Dad’s warm feathers. The spectacular courtship rituals with which the grebes seduce each other are striking. This intricate dance routine can last for hours, sometimes for days.
