Fagus sylvatica is commonly known as 'Green Beech', 'Common Beech' or 'European Beech', it is an extremely popular UK native hedge that displays stunningly bright green foliage in spring before showing off wonderful copper/bronze leaves in Autumn. Fagus will often keep it's leaves all year round, giving you the benefits of a colourful dense screen hedge throughout the year. Green Beech prefers well-drained chalky soil, however will do fine in any type of soil as long as you avoid very wet conditions.
