This is an exceptional landscape tree for use as a screen, hedge, or single specimen. We recommend these as a better option for fast growing shrub screening than we do Leyland Cypress (since Leyland's began being affected by blight several years ago). The Green Giant Arborvitae is another best selling pyramidal shrubs. This very fast growing evergreen has rich green foliage which will slightly bronze during winter months. Care The Green Giant does well in most soil types including clay as long as it is well drained. Exhibits a fair amount of deer resistance, and is wind resistant once established. Largely disease and pest free. Avoid areas prone to salt spray with this arborvitae. It is also resistant to wind once established and can withstand heavy ice or snow, making it a good choice for a natural windbreak. Best grown in zones 5-8. Growth Habit The green giant arborvitae is a large, vigorous, fast-growing evergreen—shooting up by as much as 3 feet per year until maturity. Its natural pyramidal to conical form boasts dense, rich green foliage that darkens or bronzes slightly in the winter. At maturity, this fast grower reaches 50-60' height and 15-20' spread Toxicity Deer repellent. Not reported to be toxic to pets. Unfortunately, we do not ship 3 gallon or above sized shrubs.
