Green Ischia is a very reliable producer of heavy crops of medium to large green figs with strawberry red centers. The leaves of the Green Ischia fig tree are generally either five-lobed or three-lobed, and the tree grows low and bushy. Kremp Florist grows these varieties in Pennsylvania, and like most figs, they have the ability to winter over and return to produce much fruit in subsequent seasons. Whether you plan to plant Green Ischia in containers or directly into the soil, you will enjoy growing the flavorful figs. Kremp Florist ships this variety nationwide. When do we ship cuttings? We begin shipping cuttings once the trees are dormant and in storage. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in early December. We continue to ship throughout the winter and early spring until the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. Your cuttings will be cut to order to ensure freshness and provide the greatest chance of rooting success. Cuttings will be a minimum length of 8”, with at least 3 nodes, with at least 3 nodes, and will be thicker than a #2 pencil (many are sharpie thickness or greater). Our mother trees are stored in a climate-controlled environment to keep the trees dormant and healthy through the winter and early spring, and the cuttings are guaranteed to arrive in perfect, ready to root, condition.
