Hey everyone, Last year, Cereal Kendamas approached me with the offer to design my own Signature Model—and I’m really happy to finally share it with you: The Gregor Mod. This Kendama is deeply personal to me. It’s inspired by the time I’ve spent living in Japan and everything that’s come with it. One year ago, I made the decision to move to Japan. I didn’t know what to expect, and honestly, I didn’t have much of a plan. But with the help of friends and the Kendama community, I was able to find my place, adapt to life here, and learn a lot along the way. Since then, I’ve spent nearly every weekend on the road—63 trips to 36 cities across 3 continents. I’ve joined Kendama events all over Japan and beyond. I wanted to represent that journey on the Ken, so I decided to laser engrave the Shinkansen rail network. To me, the Shinkansen stands for movement, discovery, and all the places this Kendama has taken me. You’ll also see the name 真元 (Masamoto) on the Ken. The story behind it goes back years. A Japanese friend in Germany once told me I should pick a Japanese name, since “Gregor” can be hard to pronounce. At the time, I was reading a novel about a fictional sword master named Masamoto Takeshi. I liked what the character stood for, so I went with that name. Later on, my friend Ibuki helped me write it in kanji: 真元. Since then, I’ve used it as an alias. The tama design is all about playability—but it’s also a reflection of the moments I’ve come to appreciate in Japan. The color fade is inspired by the sunsets I love watching here. And if you look from above, you’ll notice a red dot on white—like the Japanese flag. This mod means a lot to me. It’s not just a Kendama—it’s a collection of memories, people, and places that have shaped my life over the past year. To everyone who’s supported me along the way: thank you. I’ve learned so much—not just about Kendama, but about life, this country, and myself. I’m seriously grateful for every one of you. And now, as one chapter closes, another begins. Starting this September, I’ll be a university student at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, studying Global Studies in the Department of International Relations. Much love. - Gregor みなさん、こんにちは！ 去年、Cereal Kendamasからシグネチャーモデルのデザインをしないかっていう話をもらって、それからずっと準備してきたんだけど、ついに発表できる時が来ました！ その名も、「Gregor Mod（グレゴール・モッド）」です！ このけん玉は、自分にとってめちゃくちゃ特別なものです。日本での生活やそこで経験した色んなことにインスパイアされて作りました。 ちょうど1年前、日本に引っ越すっていう大きな決断をしました。正直、何が待ってるか全然わかんなかったし、ちゃんとした計画もなかった。でも、友達やけん玉コミュニティの助けがあって、日本の生活に少しずつ慣れて、自分の居場所を見つけられました。 それからの1年は、毎週末ほとんどどこかに出かけてて、3つの大陸・36都市に63回も旅しました。日本中、そして海外のけん玉イベントにも参加して、本当にいろんな人と出会えたんです。その旅をけんに表現したくて、新幹線の路線図をレーザーで彫刻しました。 自分にとって新幹線は、「移動」と「発見」、そしてこのけん玉が連れてきてくれた色んな場所の象徴です。 けんには「真元（まさもと）」という名前も彫ってあります。これはドイツにいた時、日本人の友達に「グレゴールって発音しづらいから、日本名を持った方がいいよ」って言われたのがきっかけです。その時ちょうど、架空の剣豪・真元武（まさもとたけし）ってキャラが出てくる小説を読んでて、そのキャラの考え方にすごく共感して、名前を拝借しました。 そのあと、日本の友達・いぶきが「真元」っていう漢字を当ててくれて、それ以来ずっと自分の別名として使っています。 玉のデザインは、プレイのしやすさを大事にしながらも、日本での思い出や好きな景色をイメージしてます。グラデーションは、日本の夕焼けからインスパイアされました。上から見ると、白地に赤い点——まるで日本の国旗みたいになってるんです。 このモッドは、自分にとってただのけん玉じゃなくて、この1年間で出会った人、場所、思い出がぎゅっと詰まった宝物です。 ここまで応援してくれたみなさん、本当にありがとう。けん玉だけじゃなくて、人生とか、日本という国、そして自分自身のことについても、たくさんのことを学びました。本当に感謝してます。 そして、この1年の章が終わって、新しいスタートを迎えます。 今年の9月から、立命館大学国際関係学部グローバル・スタディーズ専攻で大学生活を始めます。将来は国際外交の分野で、国と国の間の理解を深めるような仕事がしたいと思ってます。 最後に、これまでこの旅に関わってくれたすべての人へ——ありがとう。これからもよろしくお願いします！ Much love（感謝をこめて） Gregor This kendama features:- Rethink Shape - Bevel Max with Crunchable Bevel- Maple Ken- 62mm Beech Tama- CREAL Cloud+ OR Cloud+ Raw Beech (with natural grains) OR SnapTex Premium Paint by TAPA- Large Balance Hole- Upsized Kendama Bag- 2 x 15 Finger String- 1 x Spinner Bead- Cereal Kendama Stickers TAPA Tama Coating: SnapTex Clear Our custom-developed coating, hand-sprayed by our team for precision. • Exceptional grip and long-lasting durability • Smooth matte finish • Easier to adjust the tama hole during play • Stable friction even with sweaty hands A professional-grade coating designed to balance feel, control, and durability.
