Grenada adopted their national flag in 1974 when they gained independence from Great Britain. The six stars represent Grenada's parishes, with the middle star representing Petite M artinique and Carriacou. The symbol on the left is a supposed to represent a nutmeg, one of the main crops of Grenada. The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
