Reissue of Claire Boucher AKA Grimes’ second full-length! Halifax was originally released on CD in 2010 and overseas-only 2LP in 2011, and this 2016 pressing is very exciting news for stateside fans. The album features the same black-and-white, manga-inspired illustration (courtesy of Grimes, as always) that covered the 2011 vinyl release, and although two tracks are omitted ("∆∆∆∆Rasik∆∆∆∆" and "Heartbeats”), the gloomy, avant-garde pop sensibilities that drive Grimes’ heartfelt sound are all present in tracks like “Dream Fortress,” “Devon,” and “My sister Says The Saddest Things.” Digital download included. 2016 reissue digital download included music label: Arbutus Records 2010 / 2016 reviewed by the_lighted 04/2016 Show more
