Momma Bear Concrete Floor Grinder | Grizzly Grinders
Grizzly Grinders Momma Bear Floor Grinder The Grizzly Grinders Momma Bear is an 8 HP planetary concrete floor grinder designed for residential and commercial surface preparation. T hree 9 inch grinding heads provide an approximately 20 inch grinding path, giving contractors a practical combination of grinding capacity, machine weight, and maneuverability for garages, workshops, retail spaces, showrooms, and other medium size concrete floors. A versatile planetary floor grinder for concrete preparation, coating removal, smoothing, and polishing where a large industrial grinder would be unnecessary or difficult to maneuver. Where the Momma Bear Fits in Your Surface Preparation Equipment The Momma Bear fits between small portable grinders and larger commercial machines such as the Grizzly Grinders Pappa Bear. Its approximately 20 inch grinding path is large enough for productive floor preparation while the 21.5 inch machine width makes it easier to move through buildings, garages, and tighter work areas. Depending on the diamond tooling installed, the Momma Bear can be used for preparing concrete before epoxy flooring systems, removing existing coatings, smoothing surface imperfections, grinding concrete, and polishing interior concrete floors. Key Features and Benefits 8 HP motor: Provides the power needed for residential and commercial concrete preparation. Approximately 20 inch grinding width: Covers more floor with each pass than a small grinder while remaining manageable in garages and smaller commercial spaces. Three 9 inch grinding heads: Provides a broad working area for grinding, coating removal, smoothing, and polishing. Three plate planetary system: Delivers consistent grinding action across the working width of the machine. Variable speed from 300 to 1,800 RPM: Allows operating speed to be adjusted for different diamonds, surface conditions, grinding steps, and polishing applications. 378 pound machine weight: Provides substantial downward pressure on the tooling without the size and weight of a larger industrial grinder. 21.5 inch overall width: Makes the machine easier to move through many residential and commercial access points. Large transport wheels: Improve mobility when moving the grinder around the jobsite. Compact handle position: Reduces the machine length for transportation and storage. Recommended Applications Concrete floor preparation before epoxy coatings Residential garage floors Workshops and shop floors Small and medium commercial spaces Retail floors and showrooms Removal of existing floor coatings Concrete grinding and smoothing Interior concrete polishing Wet grinding applications Before You Buy The Momma Bear is more compact than a large industrial floor grinder, but power, weight, access, and transportation still need to be planned before bringing the machine to a project. Consideration Momma Bear What It Means on the Job Electrical Requirement 220 V / 30 A Confirm that suitable electrical service is available before taking the grinder to the project. Machine Weight 378 lbs Plan for ramps, trailers, loading, unloading, and any stairs or elevation changes between the vehicle and work area. Machine Width 21.5 inches The relatively narrow machine profile makes access easier through many residential and commercial doorways. Grinding Width Approximately 20 inches Provides useful production capacity without requiring the working area of a much larger grinder. Machine Length 34.5 inches compact / 60 inches extended The compact position reduces the space required for transportation and storage. Operating Guidelines Select the diamond tooling according to the hardness of the concrete, the material being removed, and the surface profile required for the coating system. Proper tooling selection has a major effect on grinding speed, diamond life, and the finished concrete profile. Use the variable speed control to match the operating speed to the tooling and application. Coating removal, general concrete preparation, smoothing, and polishing may require different grinding speeds and diamond configurations. The Momma Bear can also be used for wet grinding when the application calls for it. Wet grinding can help control airborne dust and reduce heat at the grinding surface, but the resulting slurry should be collected and removed before it dries on the concrete. Contractor Tip: Match the diamond bond to the hardness of the concrete. The wrong diamond bond can slow material removal, cause the tooling to glaze, or wear the diamonds much faster than necessary. Warning: The Momma Bear weighs approximately 378 pounds and requires 220 V / 30 A electrical service. Confirm power availability, transportation equipment, ramps, doorway clearance, and access to the work area before moving the grinder onto the project. Can the Momma Bear prepare concrete for epoxy flooring? ▾ Yes. Concrete preparation before epoxy flooring is one of the primary applications for the Momma Bear. The correct diamond tooling should be selected according to the hardness of the concrete and the surface profile required for the coating system. Can the Momma Bear remove existing floor coatings? ▾ Yes. With the appropriate tooling, the Momma Bear can be used to remove many existing floor coatings while preparing the underlying concrete for a new coating system. What electrical service does the Momma Bear require? ▾ The Momma Bear requires a 220 V / 30 A power supply. Confirm suitable electrical service before transporting the grinder to the jobsite. How wide is the Momma Bear Floor Grinder? ▾ The machine is approximately 21.5 inches wide and provides an approximately 20 inch grinding path. Its narrower overall width makes it easier to move through many residential and commercial access points. Can the Momma Bear be used for wet grinding? ▾ Yes. The Momma Bear can be used for wet grinding applications when appropriate. Wet grinding can help reduce airborne dust and heat buildup at the grinding surface. Does the grinding speed adjust? ▾ Yes. The grinder has an infinitely adjustable speed range from approximately 300 to 1,800 RPM, allowing the operator to match the machine speed to the tooling and application. How much does the Momma Bear weigh? ▾ The Momma Bear weighs approximately 378 pounds.
