These grocery bags are fabricated from recycled rice and/or flour bags in Haiti. The handles wrap around the bottom of the bags to reinforce them so they are strong enough to hold just about whatever you can carry! We realize that shopping bags are available in so many places for next to nothing financially, but most of those bags are not nearly as sturdy as these-- and the real value of these is knowing that when you put groceries in your bag, you're also putting food on the tables of some people who all too often go without food at all. The factory in which these bags are made is powered in large part by solar panels, and sustainability is built into just about every aspect of this small business. These bags are a great way to support the efforts of some of the world's most vulnerable and materially impoverished people to change their own lives and communities through economic empowerment.
