Group Process
Group Process is a structured outpatient counseling service for TKC Turning Point clients whose substance-use assessment and individualized treatment recommendations include group counseling. The group provides a supportive, professionally guided setting where clients can better understand substance use, identify how it has affected their lives, develop practical recovery skills, and take responsibility for their continued progress. Group Process is a substance-use treatment service. It is separate from TKC Turning Point’s educational programs and dedicated Anger Management Treatment Group. Session Details Cost: $50 per session Appointments must be scheduled and paid for online. Clients should select an available date and time through the booking calendar on this page. TKC Turning Point is unable to schedule Group Process appointments by telephone. Who Is Group Process For? Group Process is generally intended for clients who have completed a substance-use assessment and received a recommendation for outpatient group counseling. Clients may be participating voluntarily or in response to a referral from a court, probation officer, attorney, employer, treatment provider, or another professional. The number and frequency of sessions are determined by each client’s initial assessment, treatment recommendations, progress, and individual circumstances. Purchasing or attending one session does not constitute completion of a treatment plan. Need an initial assessment? Learn about the Substance Abuse Assessment What Happens During Group Process? Sessions combine education, guided discussion, self-examination, skill development, accountability, and support from others working toward healthier lives. Topics may include: Understanding substance use and addiction Recognizing personal patterns and consequences Identifying triggers, cravings, and high-risk situations Developing coping and refusal skills Improving decision-making and impulse control Taking responsibility for choices and behavior Managing stress and difficult emotions without substances Strengthening communication and relationships Building recovery supports and healthy routines Preventing relapse and responding to setbacks Developing an individualized plan for continued recovery Specific topics and interventions may vary based on the needs of the group and the clinical judgment of the counselor. Treatment Expectations Clients are expected to: Attend scheduled sessions consistently and arrive on time Participate respectfully and appropriately Protect the privacy of other group participants Complete agreed-upon treatment activities Discuss difficulties, setbacks, or barriers honestly with the counselor Follow TKC Turning Point’s attendance, payment, conduct, and cancellation policies Attendance alone does not guarantee successful completion. Completion depends on satisfying the requirements of the individualized treatment plan and demonstrating appropriate engagement in the treatment process. Progress Review and Continued-Care Recommendations After the client completes the sessions identified in the initial treatment recommendation, the counselor may require or recommend a separate Progress Review. Progress reviews are often part of the treatment process, but whether one is required—and when it occurs—is determined individually for each client. The Progress Review serves a purpose similar to the original assessment, with a different focus. The counselor evaluates the client’s participation, progress toward treatment goals, current recovery needs, remaining concerns, and readiness for the next stage of care. Following the review, the counselor may recommend: Completion of the current treatment plan Additional Group Process sessions Individual counseling or another service Continued recovery-support or relapse-prevention activities Referral to another provider or level of care A Progress Review does not automatically result in additional treatment. Recommendations are based on the client’s individual progress, circumstances, and clinical needs. Learn More or Schedule a Progress Review Documentation for Courts and Referral Professionals When TKC Turning Point has an appropriate written authorization, attendance information, clinically appropriate progress updates, treatment recommendations, and completion documentation may be provided to an authorized court, probation officer, attorney, employer, or other referral professional. TKC protects client confidentiality and only releases information consistent with applicable authorization and confidentiality requirements. Important Information Purchasing sessions, attending a particular number of groups, or completing a Progress Review does not guarantee a particular clinical recommendation or legal outcome. Courts, probation departments, employers, licensing authorities, and other referral sources determine whether TKC documentation satisfies their requirements. New to TKC Turning Point?
