CD.Not a whole lot new to say about a new Grouper record other than—this is a great one! No surprises on Shade, with much of the album consisting of Liz Harris playing solo tracks on acoustic guitars that somehow feel both off-the-cuff and age old. Listening to this album over the past week or so has made me realise that the signature Grouper tape noise that hovers around, through, and above these recordings doesn’t necessarily obscure the songs or make it a “difficult” listen, but seems to invite you in and envelopes you in her left-of-centre sound world.-Mitch (Repressed Records) Shade by Grouper Show more
