My uncle John played first-grade for the Magpies during their golden era of 1955 - 1963. He spent many years after his playing days developing younger players and fostering talent for the Magpies. If we go back to Aboriginal stories, magpies are credited with creating the very first sunrise through their collaboration. The legacy of mate-ship is strong in Australia.
