The thunder came close.Light fell from the sky,without warning, without direction.The tree did not fall.It was opened—a deep split,exposing what had never seen air.Rain passed thro ugh the wound.Wind paused within the crack.Time did not comfort it,it simply moved on.Then spring arrived.Leaves returned.Sunlight lingered in the split,staying a little longer there.Some lives standnot because they remain whole,but because after being struck,they still choose to grow.
