Lunar Module LM-7 was flown with the call sign "Aquarious" on the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission in April 1970. Planned as the third crewed landing on the moon, an explosion in an oxy gen tank on the outward trip turned the mission into a fight for survival in which the Lunar Module would play a vital role. After transferring to the LM to preserve the Command Module's batteries for the re-entry, the crew used the LM's descent engine to bring them around the moon and back to Earth.
