Step 1: Clean and Tone For optimal results, use Gua Sha on a freshly cleansed face. If toner is used, apply it after cleansing. Additionally, ensure hands and the tool are clean. Cleanser and water suffice for sanitation. Step 2: Apply Facial Hydration Apply a generous amount of face oil, cream, or water-based lotion to your face, neck, and chest. This helps the tool to glide more smoothly, though you may need to reapply it multiple times. Step 3: Utilizing Gua Sha Begin the gua sha practice by holding the tool at a 30 to 45-degree angle, smoothly and gently running it along the surface of the skin. Movements should always be in an upward direction, following the lymphatic flow. It is recommended that each movement is repeated three to five times before moving on to the next area.
