Accepts Two internal ballistic carriers — one front, one rear — each built to receive a 10 in. x 12 in. rectangular-cut soft ballistic panel. Both panels ship fitted; them as Level IIIA. The front carrier has pull straps for bringing its panel to the chest. No hard-plate pocket. Panels 2 × soft ballistic panel, 10 in. × 12 in., rectangular cut — one front, one rear Panel test data 9 mm FMJ at approximately 1,400 ft/s and .44 Magnum SJHP at approximately 1,400 ft/s. No test report or laboratory is named. No other caliber is carried here. Rifle threats Not protected. Plainly that Level IIIA is a handgun rating and that rifle protection requires hard armor. Main compartment 17 in. H × 12 in. W × 4 in. D, top-loading Front zippered pocket 10 in. H × 10 in. W × 1.2 in. D Additional pockets 2 × zippered, 6.75 in. H × 9 in. W; 2 × mesh side pockets Weight 71.5 oz — approximately 4.47 lb / 2.03 kg, with both panels fitted Colors and SKUs Black 848754010254 (BGBPS3003B-A) · Light Gray 848754010261 (BGBPS3003LG-A) · Navy Blue 848754010278 Panel care Panels should not be laundered or submerged, should be inspected periodically for damage, deformation or moisture, and should be cared for and replaced per NcStar/VISM guidance. Panel service life Soft armor has a manufacturer-stated service life. Shipping restriction MED-TAC does not ship body armor to Connecticut or New York, and that covers this pack and the armor in it. NIJ's compliance program covers body armor, so the backpack itself is not a certifiable article; the soft panels inside it are body armor. ▾Who Carries It Students and families who want protection inside equipment already carried every day rather than a vest that has to be found and put on · Commuters and office staff in environments where visible protective equipment is not workable · Off-duty and plain-clothes officers covering the gap when no duty vest is worn · Travellers, journalists and NGO staff working in elevated-threat areas. No training or certification is required to buy or wear this, but two things decide whether it works: Rehearsing the front-panel deployment until it is automatic, and knowing the limit — these are handgun-rated soft panels, and they do not stop rifle rounds.
