Guavaberry is an interesting fig from California. As the name suggests, this fig has tropical flavors like guava and mango. Guavaberry comes from Sacred Origins, a fig grower known for discovering wild seedlings in California. In 2019, Guavaberry was discovered in a patch of seedlings that also included “Amrita,” another popular and tasty variety. Since then, Guavaberry has been grown outside of California and is a confirmed common fig. This variety grows on trees with 5-lobed leaves with wavy edges. The figs grow to a large size that fits in the palm of your hand. They are teardrop shaped and may have a squat shape. Guavaberry figs have bright red pulp with a nice balance of sweetness and acidity. They have the unique flavor combination described as guava, mango, strawberry, and hibiscus flowers. One of the things that sets Guavaberry apart from other figs is its ability to retain a concentrated flavor in such a large fig. Unlike figs that become watery as they increase in size, Guavaberry maintains a rich and intense tropical flavor. Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
