Designed in 1949 for the University of Paris, the Guéridon Table stands as one of Jean Prouvé's most direct expressions of structural honesty. Wood is not decoration here - it is a rchitecture. The round solid wood top rests on three tapered wooden legs, their geometry precise and considered, while a bent sheet metal connector at the base introduces industrial rigour without disrupting the warmth of the composition. Prouvé trained as a metalworker before becoming one of the twentieth century's most consequential designer-engineers. That formation is legible in every joint and profile of this table: the material choices are purposeful, the transitions between wood and metal confident.
