Life has little quality.Similar to SEMTEX 87, whose impetus was informed by the movements of a deranged man rampaging around town in a stolen tank on a revenge kick, GUNNER too finds abstract inspiration from a Perth local, an inwardly tortured man with a penchant for vice and suicidal ideation, that one of the band members regularly encountered at his night job. “There is a sense of being forced to apprehend the world with the tools one has been given, and sometimes those instruments are blunt and fractured to begin with. What separates us is much less than what we might imagine it to be, and what separates us from Society is much greater than we can tolerate comfortably. Necessarily, I think it is in that gap of psychosocial discomfiture that we make what we make.”
