Gurudev's tales were often the highlight of his talks. He held that Vedantic truths were high and subtle and therefore not within the grasp of all people. So, he drew freely upon h is vast storehouse of tales to drive home a truth. "None of these stories that are attributed to me are really mine. They are stories that old Mahatmas told us while we were learning at the feet of the Masters in Uttarkashi and Rishikesh," he said.
