GW044 – Belgian Marching Soldier Belgium's refusal to permit German forces free passage through the country in August 1914 placed its army in the path of one of the opening offensi ves of the First World War. Despite being heavily outnumbered, Belgian forces resisted at locations including Liège, Namur and Antwerp, before much of the army withdrew to the small portion of Belgium that remained outside German occupation. GW044 – Belgian Marching portrays one of these soldiers on the move rather than in combat, making him ideal for a marching column, reinforcement scene or troops moving towards the front.
