--GWEN-- The Gwen avocado tree naturally grows about 15 feet in height, but can be kept even smaller. The tree lends itself easily to pruningsince it has small limbs. Fruit is simi lar to the Hass variety, but slightly larger. Gwen is a Hass Seedling. Their avocados are oval and plump with thick green skin that have a pebbled texture and turn dull green when the fruit is fully ripe. They have creamy gold-green flesh around a small to medium seed. Trees grow medium to large fruit. Height at maturity: 15' tall, but can be kept smaller with pruning Gwen avocados have a nutty, buttery flavor. Ripens March-August Grafted onto Mexican Seedling rootstock. Suitable for USDA Zones 9-10 Protect mature trees from temperatures below 30 F Trees younger than 3 years should be protected when temperatures fall below 32 F TYPE A. Within a month of delivery we suggest repotting into a larger (10"-12" diameter) container or planting directly in the ground. Ultimately, avocado trees will be happiest and most productive when planted in the ground. Like citrus trees ,avocado trees appreciate well aerated soil that retains moisture and also drains well.
