This variety was created and released by the U.S.D.A in 1972. It is characterized as a medium strength aroma of unique floral/spicy with a bittering potential. Cascade is the most used variety by American craft brews. Pedigree: Open pollination of a Fuggle seedling, derived from Fuggle and Serebrianka Brewing Usage: Aroma Aroma: Medium intensity, floral, cirtus and grapefruit Alpha Acids %: 4.5-7.0 Beta Acids %: 4.5-7.0 Co-Humolone: 33-40% of alpha acids Total Oil: 0.8-1.5 mls/100g General Trade Perception: An aroma variety with well-balanced bittering potential. Good for dry hopping.
