Key Hinges Compared Hafele Miter Flap Cabinet Hinge 90 Degree: Designed for concealed flap doors that open up to approximately 90 degrees. Built for use with flap or lid stays (i.e., supporting hardware that holds the flap in position). Typically used where you want a traditional hinge solution with a specific opening angle and reliable performance. Suitable for wood panels and requires appropriate edge chamfering where specified. Hafele Flap Hinge A-Series 3-Way Adjustable (and similar A-Series variants): A-Series hinges are 3-way adjustable and detachable, which can make installation and alignment easier. They’re often used where flexibility in side, height, and depth adjustment is needed. The A-Series designation relates more to usability and adjustability features than to a specific opening angle—many A-Series flap hinges also open to ~90°. Typically smaller or more modular, used for light to medium cabin flap doors and simpler installations. Difference in Practice The main distinction is functionality and adjustability: The standard 90° flap hinge is a straightforward hinge with a set opening angle and is often paired with flap/lid stays for stability on upward-opening doors. The A-Series hinge emphasizes three-way adjustment and detachability, making it easier to align, remove, or adjust without disassembling the mount—this can be helpful in production or field installs. When to Choose Which Choose a standard 90° hinge when you want a robust, purpose-built hinge for a flap that reliably opens to 90° and stays in position with supporting hardware. Choose an A-Series adjustable hinge when installation flexibility, precise alignment, and ease of detachment are priorities—such as in custom cabinetry or when high repeatability across multiple units is needed.
