A headband can be so much easier to wear than a beanie, and our design is just the thing for chilly spring walks or to keep you warm on cooler evenings. Hair Necessities includes a classic twist headband and a complimentary hair scrunchie, each with three stitch options. This hair accessory set is perfect for beginners wanting a small easy project to try out different stitches. Yarn: The Fibre Co. &Make DK (55% Highland wool, 35% alpaca, 10% linen, 125 m (137 yd) per 50 g ball) in shades Soft Love, Surf's Up or Careless Whisper – 2 balls. Construction notes: The headband can be knitted in three different ways to give different textures to the basic shape: garter and stockinette stitch, garter and slip stitch, or a mock cable rib stitch. The headband is knit flat from one end to the other and the headband twist is created when sewing the open ends together. The scrunchie is worked in the round and can be knitted in three different ways: stockinette stitch, stockinette stitch with purl rounds, or garter stitch. An elasticated hair tie is placed on top of the knitted fabric which is folded and sewn together to close the scrunchie.
