Hakonechloa ‘Sunflare’ sometimes known as Hakone Grass or Japanese Forest Grass is a compact herbaceous perennial that works beautifully as groundcover for any part in the garden, including the dark, shaded and moist areas where other cultivars would have difficulty establishing and thriving. It boasts beautiful chartreuse foliage tinged with burgundy colouration along the arching leaves, with the chartreuse intensifying under the Sun and the burgundy grower deeper with the coming of Autumn. Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Can be kept in sunny or shaded areas for different effects. Prefers shaded, moist areas and will thrive nicely in these locales. Low maintenance with minimal or non-existent green flowers. Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. Ongoing plant maintenance within our nursery is essential, meaning some lines are pruned back at certain times of the year to encourage new growth.
