Half Light Half Fury shows a tiger caught at the exact point where calm becomes something else. One side of the face rests in a hard, high beam of light. The other dissolves into black, its stripes flowing out of sight like smoke before they can finish their thought. The animal is not attacking and not at rest, it is the moment just before, held permanently in place.No paint. No print. No ink. Every stripe, every fold of fur, every glint in the eye is scratched into the surface of the acrylic glass, built through controlled scratches rather than anything added on top. The image is not applied onto the surface, it is drawn out of it, formed by removing rather than adding.The image is always present, in daylight as much as in a dim room. Light does not create it, it sharpens it. Under a direct beam the scratches catch and reflect, the contrast deepens, and the tiger's gaze seems to gather weight. It reads differently from every angle, without the image ever leaving.From across a room the work settles into a single, monumental face, all stillness and threat held together. Step closer and that face opens into a dense field of fine lines, layered until they behave like fur, like shadow, like breath.
