Named after the small Turkish village of Halfeti, which overlooks the banks of the Euphrates. In spring the surrounding valleys fill with the fragrance of the very rare black rose, which grows and is cultivated only in those places. This species of rose blooms in minimal quantities, only once a year, and has an unusual characteristic that distinguishes it: when it first opens, its petals are dark red, while at the end of flowering they become unmistakably black.
