Incentive Draw a picture of a hand showing line details. -Line-Shape-Space-Colour Supplies A4 paper or half art paper Lead Pencil Black Backing paper/card Glue Lesson 1 Decide which side of the hand will be drawn. If drawing the back of the hand, trace the outline of one hand face down in the middle of the paper. If drawing the palm side, trace the outline of an upturned hand in the middle of the paper. 2 Place traced hand next to the paper and start by adding main lines (palm lines, knuckles, joints, fingernails etc.) 3 Shade around the outline of the entire hand. 4 Add any smaller lines or markings in the appropriate places. 5 Sign your name on finished art piece and paste onto black backing paper/cardboard. 6 Display with signs for the sense ‘touch’ and possibly some descriptive words for how objects might feel if you touch them e.g. Smooth, hard, soft, furry, slippery, spiky, rough, fluffy, etc. You could include samples of fabrics or products that show these words. 7 If time permits and children are confident (or for extra practise) they could draw both sides of the hand.
