I took this photograph three years before I became a believer. A smoker's hand. A cigarette being pressed out. An ashtray full of butts. And right beside it — the Holy Bible and the Crucifix. I didn't fully understand what I was making at the time. This image speaks to the tension every believer knows but rarely says out loud — the gap between who we are and who we're trying to be. The sin that's visible. The shame that asks the quiet question: when I've fallen short again, will the Father really sustain His patience and grace for me? The answer this photograph gives me, every time I look at it, is yes. No sin can outlast the omnipotent patience, mercy, and grace of our Heavenly Father. This print is for the person who wants the daily reminder of the everlasting grace and patience of Jesus Christ. Printing by my own hands using archival pigment ink and archival fine art paper rated to last 200 years.
