Proper electrode storage keeps the glass sensing membrane hydrated and the reference junction clear, helping ensure fast response times and reliable measurements. Supplied in a 500 mL bottle, HI70300L is prepared with reagent-grade chemicals and formulated to minimize microbial growth and reduce diffusion and osmotic effects between the storage solution and the electrode's internal reference electrolyte. Hanna recommends using HI70300L rather than distilled or deionized water for electrode storage. Storing a pH or ORP electrode in distilled or deionized water can shorten the life of the sensor. HI70300L can also be used to rehydrate an electrode after cleaning; Hanna recommends soaking the electrode in the storage solution for at least one hour before taking measurements. For routine storage, place enough HI70300L in the electrode's protective cap or a suitable container to keep the glass sensor tip and reference junction immersed. The electrode should remain moist when not in use. After cleaning a pH electrode, Hanna recommends rinsing it and then soaking it in HI70300L for at least one hour before taking measurements. This allows the sensing membrane to rehydrate and helps restore normal electrode response. Do not store pH or ORP electrodes in distilled or deionized water, as this can shorten sensor life.
