Artisans sew the animals “inside out”, a traditional method that minimizes seams. The bodies of the animals are carefully sculpted to create unique features, such as musculature and movement, whether in a walking or sitting position. On average, 42 separate pieces are required to make each animal. These pieces are combined by a team of creative artists to create the distinctly realistic features that characterize Hansa animals. Some animals require as many as 240 different parts. Each animal is individually hand-sewn, giving it a unique personality. More than 860 different fabrics and man-made furs are used to create the coats and hides of these plush animals, along with over 6000 sets of different eyes, whiskers, claws, noses, and related accessories. The stuffing process emphasizes careful attention to the placement of the highest quality man-made materials.
