In freshwater aquariums, nitrate levels should remain below 20 mg/L, while in marine aquariums they should not exceed 50 mg/L. If these limits are surpassed, perform a partial water change (maximum 30%) using nitrate-free RO water and siphon the substrate thoroughly.
